Next week begins our new unit about If/then and looking closer at a book. We will connect this idea to our storybooks we just learned about. Talk with your child about looking carefully at the cover, pointing under the words of the title and reading them, looking carefully at the whole picture and then telling the story to match that picture. Discussing these concepts with your child will help them to make better connections and be able to discuss the story with you. Ask your child what the characters are feeling. Show them how to stop often and think about what the characters say and do in their books. By doing this it will give readers clues to figure out how characters feel.
